Mrs Wishy-washy

Dear 1 Peace,

We started on a new book, Mrs Wishy-washy. Everyone had a good time imitating the actions in the book.

Apart from that, we had a good talk yesterday on treating everyone in the class as family members. 1 peace is a big family and we need to love each other. We also learnt about using the "Stop It!" method to warn your friends to stop what they are doing and if they don't stop, you will then tell Mrs Say. Not only that, we also learnt to speak kind words to our friends. I hope after yesterday's talk, we are all sure of what are the acceptable and unacceptable behaviour in class and in school. 

Hugs and kind words keep make us happy!

Lastly, we will be celebrating CNY tomorrow. You would have received a greeting card and a little ang pao from me. Remember to wear your traditional costumes tomorrow and I can't wait to take pictures with all of you!

FTGP booklets

Hi daddies and mummies of 1 Peace,

Here are some information I got for your little ones to bring home to you. Currently, I'm training them to copy information that I want to pass to you in their student planner. As they are P1s, I am checking each of their planners to ensure that they copied the information accurately. However, some of them might forget to show you their planner, so below are the information on what was being told:

1) Bring $3.15 for their FTGP booklet. 
The booklet has finally arrived in the bookshop. I will be collecting the money from your child and I will buy the books and hand it to your child. Please give me exact change! :D

2) Maths and English feedback forms
The level has printed feedback forms for both subjects. This form serves as a good platform for you to monitor your child's progress in class. I've also added in the learning needs of your child after reviewing their activity book (Maths) and STELLAR Unit 1 (English). Please get it sign and hand it back to me on Monday.

3) Spelling
I've returned the spelling worksheet and I need parent's signature on it too! Congrats to those who scored full marks. I'm a little strict when I'm marking the spelling. I expect a full stop and an uppercase A for question 10 as it is a sentence.

4) CNY celebration
CNY celebration will be on next Thursday. The school will be having concert and class activities from 8am to 10am. Please report to school at the usual timing and you can fetch them at 10am. Since we will be celebrating CNY, I would encourage you to let your child wear CNY costumes! However, please take note that they need to wear school shoes. For students without any traditional costumes, you can wear your school uniform. Parents, you can pack a storybook, a box of colour pencils, water bottle and pencil case for them.

Mrs Say's little one

Hi 1 Peace,

Mrs Say isn't in school today because my little one is down with fever in the middle of the night. So, I had to bring him to the doctor this morning.

He is much better now after taking his medicine and is all smiley. :) Mrs Say misses all of you and I will be back tomorrow!

Number bonds

Hi 1 Peace,

We played a number bond game during class. During the whole game, you are to say ___ and ____ makes ____. For eg. 4 and 6 makes 10.

Everybody was able to play the game and we had different winners for both rounds. We will be playing the game again tomorrow!

Library and lockers

Hi 1 Peace,

Lockers have been assigned to you based on your register number. Most of you have already locked up your lockers with your locks! However, there are a handful without lockers as their lockers are still locked up by the previous year's student. Don't worry, I've already informed our school OM and he will be cutting away those locks by end of this week! :)

Other than that, daddies and mummies, please discuss with your child what they can leave in the lockers. For instance, if you need the Mathematics textbook for revision, then ask your child to bring it home everyday. Otherwise, they can leave their Mathematics textbook in the locker and bring home every Friday. I would suggest that they leave their whiteboards and Art bag locked up in their lockers. As for Mother tongue textbooks, it will depend on their MT teachers as your little one will not be having their MT lessons in their 1 Peace classroom.

Apart from lockers, we went to the school library for the first time! I can see all the excited and smiley faces the moment we stepped into the library.

Mdm Devi, our school librarian briefed us on the library rules and also how to borrow books using the EZ-link cards issued by MOE. Please take note that the EZ-link cards have not been issued yet and you will only receive them by end of March. So meanwhile, if you want to borrow any books, you can use the temporary card that Mdm Devi made.

Lastly, I have also gotten you to write a little information for daddy and mummy. Please take note that yoou will need to wear PE attire on every Tuesday for PAL lessons and as for Friday, although it is stated in the timetable that it is a PE period, it is actually a PE/HE (Health Education) lesson. So your little one will not need to wear PE attire on Friday.

I can... I can't...

Hi 1 Peace,

We had group work today. Everyone in the group had a chance to construct either a I can... or a I can't sentence. Here are some pictures of you at work

Most of you are also able to make use of the tick tick cross method to remind yourself to only write on the sentences with the ticks.

After you are done with the 3 sentences, we had a teacher-group conferencing on the floor to check on the sentence structure, grammar and SPELLING!!

Finally, with some drawing and colouring, your writings are finally ready to be put up in the classroom!
