Weekly update email

Dear Parents,

I've sent a weekly email on what your child has learnt this week and what they will be learning next week. Do read through the email. You can suggest to me what you want to see in the weekly updates and I will try to add it in. :)

Anyway, I've also given out the school planner to your child and I've collected $2.15 from your child and I will buy the Maths heuristics booklets for them. To those who did not bring the money today, don't worry, I will collect on Monday.

Have a restful weekend!

Bonding Day 2

Hi Parents,

After collecting the books from the students, it came to my realization that some of you bought the following books.

In the book list given by the school, these 2 books are in the optional section. Which means, I won't be using them in class. You can do it at home with your child as reinforcement to what I've taught in class. Hence, I will be returning the books back to those I've collected from.

Bonding Day 2

The kids went through 2 discipline talks with the Aesthetic and the Discipline departments. After which, we had more bonding games.

Lesson will officially start on Thursday. Do note that the PE lesson Thursday is Health Ed hence students are to wear school uniform on that day and PE attire for the rest of the week.

Bonding Day 1

Hi Parents,

It was indeed good to see the kids again! We spent our first day setting class rules and of course played games as a level.

I've also given the kids some important information:

1) Bring a thermometer on Monday (5th January) and make sure it is working
2) Wear PE attire on Monday
3) Bring the books that are listed in the list I gave

Have a restful weekend and I'll see the kids again on Mon

First 3 days of school

Hi Parents,

The school holidys are going to be over soon. School will start again this Friday. Can't wait to see all the kids again. :D

Here are some information on what we will be doing on the first 3 days of school (2nd, 5th and 6th January):

1) Bonding days

There will be no lessons on the first 3 days of school as we have planned some bonding activities for the whole level.

2) Things to bring

No need to bring any books this Friday. On the 5th and 6th, pack the school bag according to the list that I will be giving out on Friday.

3) School hour

School hour is still the same. Assemble in the school hall by 7.45am and school dismissal is still 2pm everyday except Wednesday, 1.30pm.

4) Parent's email

In this new year, I'm going to try out a new way to provide timely feedback on your child's academic progress through weekly email update. Hence, I will be giving out a letter on Friday for you to write your most updated email address that I can send the email to. :) Do indicate that the email belongs to Dad or Mum.

Alright, have a good New Year's eve!

Meet-the-parents session 2014

It is the time of the year for us to meet and disucss the achievements your child has accomplished this second part of the year. Looking at the schedule, I have to meet 18 parents from 8am to 11.20am (FULL BOOKING). Hence, I would like to ask for your understanding that even if you have book at 10am, for instance, you might not be able to see me at 10am. Of course I will try to stick to the 10 min per child rule, but sometimes the conversation might continue.

If you see a long queue, then maybe you can go and see the Mother Tongue teachers first and come back to see me. Would really appreciate your understanding!! :D

Second, to make our discussion a fruitful one, I would like to request that you come with a list of questions that you want to ask me. For example:

1) What are the strategies that I can use to help my child in his Comprehension?

This way, I can answer to your questions directly, and we will all learn something from the discussion. :D

Thank You!!

Regards,
Irene

1 Peace Amazing Star 2014

Hi Parents,

Today is the performance for the P1 Amazing Star.

From a teacher's point of view, I truely think that 1Peace is a really awesome class. Each and everyone of them is so responsible and the moment I gave them the script, they took the initiative to memorize without me chasing after them.

We only had to rehearse 3 times and all of them got it! I'm really so blessed and proud to have them this year. :D

Composition test

Hi Parents,

I've managed to mark the latest composition homework and returned the book back to your child for revision over the public holiday. I've also given them a mock composition test just now. Here are some worrying things that I observed in their mock test:

1) Can't finish their story within the given time, 30 minutes

Some of them could not finish their story in the 30 minutes given. This is quite serious because their results will be 1 band down and if their content is insufficient, then they might fail the test.

2) Me and my brother, I and my family

I've nagged countless time, but 1 or 2 are still making this mistake. It should be my brother and I.

3) Finger spacing and 3 paragraphs

some of them are still not leaving 2 finger spacing at the start of the paragraph! this leads me to the next problem. They did not even write in 3 paragraphs!!

4) Not using the 4 pictures given

Some students only wrote based on the title and not the picture. This is clearly evident in their compo writing when they wrote about the beach and having a picnic when the picture depicts a PARK!

To help them write good introduction and conclusion, I've given them a template. Do guide them through using the template. I believe it will help them on Friday!

Hang on and all the assessments will be over soon! :)
